Maverick Magazines was a British magazine publishing company during the 1990s.

History[]

Founded by former Eurpress director/publisher Hugh Gollner in 1992, Maverick Magazines was initially located in Macclesfield before re-locating to Oxford. The company published a handful of computer game and leisure magazines from the early to mid-1990s.

The company's first magazines included Mega Drive Advanced Gaming and Control which both launched cover dated September 1992. PC Player was later launched in December 1993. Control, which was a multi-format Nintendo magazine, was later re-launched as Super Control to concentrate solely on the Super Nintendo.

During 1994, the company purchased a handful of other publishing company's flagging magazines, most notably MegaTech, Sega Zone, Mega and The One.
